The answer to this question depends on you and the project you're doing. I have found that the longest part of making a book is organizing the photos. Uploading them to the website is quick and easy.
The first book I made was about my granddaughter Natalia who lives in California. It was going to be about her and me, from her birth to her age of 17 months. My intent was to make a book so she knows who I am when they pick me up at the airport or talk about me.
From start to finish -- from organizing the photos to clicking the "Publish" button, it took me 6-8 hours, not all at one time. Sometimes I had just ten minutes to work on it, other times, I had two hours.
My family's genealogy book took probably about 40 hours total, and that was from ten minutes to a couple hours at a time -- whenever I had free time. As it got closer to the deadline (my cousin's wedding), I began scheduling the time as if it were an appointment. That way, I knew I'd get the book done. That 40 hours included scanning old photos, meeting with my relatives to get the information, making phone calls, organizing the photos, writing the text, putting the text and photos onto the pages, and then adding the digital scrapbooking backgrounds and embellishments.
In contrast, I made a 7x5 book of my granddaughter's first birthday and that took a half hour to put together. All the photos were organized already. I just dropped them into her book, added some text, and it was done.
So the time it takes depends on how much time you have available, whether you have to scan photos or download them from your camera, the size of the book, how much help you have, and your vision.
When you complete a book, it takes from 10-15 days to arrive at your doorstep or mailbox. At times, I've received my books within a week.
